Why is lymphatic drainage trending?
I read a crazy fact the other day that Hailey Bieber’s Lymphatic Massage Provider Has a 2,300-Person Waitlist! Sure, she is “celebrity-endorsed,” but I wanted to take a moment to discuss why lymphatic drainage is a buzz word in the wellness-sphere!
Simply put- the results are real.
There have been several fun trends that have popped up in the wellness-sphere and I want to talk a bit about each one and also outline the benefits!
Dry Brushing
Dry brushing is a simple treatment that you can do from home. Not only does it help to exfoliate the skin, when done properly, it can also help improve your lymphatic system by improving the flow of lymph, thereby helping to improve the immune system.
Errrr….what is LYMPH?
Lymph is the clear fluid that travels through the lymphatic system and carries cells that help fight infections and other diseases.
Gua Sha
Gua Sha is a massage technique designed to relieve tension in the muscles of the face, boost blood circulation, and encourage lymphatic drainage to banish bloat. It helps break up fascia, the connective tissue that hugs muscles, but can sometimes interfere with optimal circulation.
Below is a great Gua Sha at home tutorial from Skin Gym!
Ok, but this isn’t what Hailey Bieber is doing with her therapist! So let’s talk about that!
Hailey is doing what is called Manual Lymphatic Drainage or MLD. The intention behind lymphatic drainage is to augment the rhythmic contractions and stimulate the lymph nodes to improve their activity in order to reroute stagnant lymphatic fluid.
Unlike the circulatory system, the lymphatic system does not have a pump like the heart and therefore, relies on movement. However, given our more stagnant lifestyles and toxins we intake, a weak lymphatic system can ensue and result a variety of unwelcome symptoms including:
Soreness/Stiffness
Headaches
Bloating and digestive issues
Fatigue/Stress
Skin problems
Swelling
Allergies
Brain fog
YIKES!!!!!
* If you are experiencing any of the symptoms above, Modrn Sanctuary always suggests discussing your symptoms with your doctor prior to experiencing lymphatic drainage.
Does Modrn Do Lymphatic Drainage?
We sure do! In fact, we offer two types of lymphatic drainage:
1) Manual Lymphatic Drainage
Our Manual Lymphatic drainage massage uses a gentle stroke to aid in micro-circulation and to stimulate lymphatic drainage, smooth skin, & help smooth cellulite. Due to the light feathering of the treatment, clients tend to think its not working, but we ensure you that lymphatic drainage is MEANT TO BE SOFT and not hard, which is why clients tend to want to swap their treatment to a deep tissue massage post discussion of the treatment.
2) BallancerPro Lymphatic Drainage
BallancerPro is a medical-grade FDA approved compression treatment that provide a massage of the lymphatic vessels and lymph nodes in the proximal areas near the core of the body. This treatment customizes each session to work with the specific shape and pressure needs of the client. It IS NOT a one-size fits all treatment. In fact, its intuitive and compresses the right pressure based on your body.
Which do we prefer? Honestly, BallancerPro and here is why.
Having done both, I personally feel I have gotten better results with the BallancerPro due to its ability to work with the specifics of my body and apply the proper pressure needed in each area.
